WHY SUVARNA COUNSEL

What Sets Our Practice Apart

Immigration matters carry real weight. We approach each file with the care it deserves.

Document-First Thinking

Immigration authorities respond to paper. We help you assemble the right documents in the right order, so your file speaks clearly before anyone reviews it.

Options, Not Instructions

We lay out the paths available to you — with honest notes on each — so you make a well-considered choice rather than follow a single prescribed route.

Qualified Local Counsel

Our advisors work directly with Thailand's immigration bureau and understand the administrative culture, typical timelines, and unwritten conventions that matter on the ground.

Plain-Language Communication

We write and speak in plain English. Regulation references are explained, not assumed. You will understand your situation without needing a legal dictionary.

Proactive Deadline Tracking

Visa overstays and missed 90-day reports carry consequences. We flag upcoming dates and administrative steps before they become a concern.

Confidential by Practice

Your circumstances, documents, and conversations remain strictly within our practice. We treat personal data with the discretion the subject deserves.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Non-Immigrant O-A visa and an LTR visa? +
The Non-Immigrant O-A is Thailand's traditional retirement visa, renewed annually and tied to financial requirements held in a Thai bank. The Long-Term Resident visa is a newer category aimed at wealthier retirees and certain professionals, offering a ten-year stay with fewer annual administrative obligations. Each has distinct eligibility criteria. We help you understand which applies to your situation without assuming one is automatically preferable.
How does the 90-day reporting requirement work? +
Any foreigner holding a non-immigrant visa and residing in Thailand must report their address to immigration every 90 days. This can be done in person, by post, or online through the Thai immigration portal. Failure to report on time carries a fine. We include a summary of upcoming reporting dates in our engagement letters and flag them before they arrive.
Can my spouse and children be included on my visa? +
Dependants do not typically share a visa category with the primary applicant — they apply separately under the Non-Immigrant O category as dependants. The supporting documentation differs from the primary applicant's file. We prepare household-level checklists so each person in your family knows exactly what is needed before submitting.
How long does a typical visa application take? +
Timelines vary by visa type and individual circumstances. A Visa Status Review consultation typically concludes within three to five business days. A full retirement or family visa engagement, from initial review to submission, generally takes two to six weeks depending on document readiness and appointment availability at immigration offices.
Do I need to be in Bangkok to work with Suvarna Counsel? +
Not for the initial stages. We can conduct consultations and document reviews remotely. For applications that require an in-person immigration appointment, presence in Thailand is necessary at that stage. If you are currently abroad and planning to arrive, we can begin the advisory process before your departure.
What financial evidence is typically required for a retirement visa? +
For the Non-Immigrant O-A, Thailand generally requires either a deposit in a Thai bank account meeting a minimum threshold, evidence of a sufficient monthly income or pension, or a combination of the two. The specific amounts and acceptable evidence change periodically, so we always work from the most current immigration bureau guidance rather than fixed numbers.
