What Our Clients
Say About the Process
Immigration is rarely straightforward. These are honest accounts from clients who worked with us through various stages of their Thailand residency journey.

I came to Suvarna Counsel after spending several weeks trying to understand the difference between the O-A visa and the LTR visa on my own. I had read a lot, but the details kept contradicting each other depending on which source I found. They gave me a written comparison tailored to my actual income structure and pension type, and I could make a decision with genuine confidence.
My Thai husband and I needed to formalise his dependent status while I was on a work-related stay. The household checklist they provided saved us from at least two repeat visits to the district office — they had identified in advance that one of his documents needed to be re-issued with a different format. I thought they caught things that most agents would have let through.
I used the Visa Status Review service before committing to a longer stay. I genuinely wasn't sure whether my existing visa conditions allowed what I was planning to do, and I didn't want to assume. The written summary they sent answered that directly and flagged two upcoming deadlines I hadn't tracked. Worth every baht for the peace of mind.
I was living in Chiang Rai and initially wondered whether there was much point in working with a Bangkok-based practice. Everything was handled remotely until my actual appointment, and the written advice was just as detailed as if I had been sitting across a desk. The process took four weeks from first contact to having my visa in hand. They had flagged everything I needed in advance.
My wife is Thai and I had been on tourist and business visas for years without ever addressing the question properly. Suvarna Counsel were matter-of-fact about it — acknowledged it wasn't unusual, and went through the options available to someone in my position without any particular urgency or alarm. Their communications were clear and they replied quickly throughout. The engagement took six weeks total.
I was planning to move to Bangkok with my partner and wanted to understand what visa options we each had before committing to a lease. The status review service was exactly what I needed — a clear document explaining what was available, what wasn't, and what would make sense given our income types. No pressure to take additional services.
Case Studies
Three representative engagements described with the permission of those involved. Names and some identifying details have been generalised.
A retired German couple in their late sixties had been visiting Thailand for extended periods on tourist visas for several years. They wanted to move permanently but were uncertain whether to apply for the LTR visa or the traditional O-A, and whether their pension and investment income structure would qualify for either.
We reviewed their income structure and identified that the LTR's passive income route was the most suitable path, avoiding the Thai bank deposit requirement that the O-A would have imposed. We prepared the full document set, coordinated translation of German financial records, and accompanied them to their appointment at the Bangkok immigration bureau.
Both applicants received their LTR visas within eight weeks of initial contact. They have since completed their first annual check-in without incident, using the reporting summary we provided at the close of the original engagement.
An Australian woman living in Bangkok on a business visa was married to a Thai national. She wanted to formalise her stay as a spousal dependent rather than maintain a business-category visa that was no longer accurate for her circumstances. Her husband's documentation required attention before it would be acceptable to immigration.
We reviewed the couple's existing marriage documentation, identified that additional certified documents were needed, assisted in obtaining them from the district office, and prepared a complete Non-Immigrant O application with the full supporting file. We accompanied her to the appointment.
Her Non-Immigrant O visa was granted at first appointment. The total process from initial engagement to visa issuance was five weeks, including the time required to obtain additional marriage documentation.
A Canadian consultant living in Pattaya on a Non-Immigrant B visa was considering purchasing a condominium and wanted to understand whether his visa status would affect the purchase process and what the implications would be if he left his current employer within the next year.
We reviewed his current visa conditions and provided a written summary covering the visa type, remaining permissions, relevant reporting dates, and a plain-language explanation of what would change to his status if his employment circumstances shifted. We noted two upcoming administrative obligations he had not been aware of.
He made his property decision with a clear understanding of his administrative position. He subsequently returned six months later when his employment did change, and we assisted with the transition to an appropriate visa category.
