OUR STORY

How Suvarna Counsel Came to Be

Suvarna Counsel opened its doors in Bangkok's Lumphini district in 2016, founded by legal practitioners who had spent years working within Thailand's immigration administrative system. The name — drawn from a Sanskrit word for "well-formed" or "of good quality" — reflects a deliberate choice: to do fewer things and do them properly, rather than to process high volumes and move on.

In the years since, the practice has focused on three areas where foreign individuals in Thailand most commonly need structured, qualified support: long-term residency and retirement visa planning, family and spousal documentation, and visa status reviews for those who simply want to confirm they are standing on solid administrative ground.

Our clients come from across Europe, North America, Australia, and Southeast Asia. Many are approaching retirement and considering Thailand as a permanent base. Others are couples navigating the administrative requirements of a cross-border household. Some are working professionals who have been living here for years and want a thorough review of their status before a life change.

What connects them is a preference for receiving advice that is clear, honest, and calibrated to their specific situation — not a standard package that happens to cover most of what they need.

MISSION

To provide immigration advice that respects the seriousness of the subject — treating each person's circumstances as distinct, their documents as important, and their time as worth protecting.

HOW WE WORK

Standards We Hold Ourselves To

Immigration is a serious administrative discipline. The following principles shape every engagement we take on.

Thailand Law Society Compliance

Our advisory practice operates in line with the standards set by Thailand's legal profession for qualified immigration advisory services.

Client Confidentiality

Documents, personal circumstances, and communications are held in strict confidence within the practice. We do not share client information with third parties without explicit permission.

Current Regulation Reference

Thailand's immigration rules change without extensive public notice. We maintain active monitoring of policy updates and reference current bureau guidance rather than fixed templates.

PDPA Data Handling

We handle personal data in accordance with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), limiting collection to what is necessary and retaining records only for required periods.

Written Engagements

Every engagement is documented. Advice is provided in writing so you have a clear record of what was discussed, what was recommended, and why.

Transparent Fee Disclosure

Our fees are stated before any engagement begins. We do not add administrative charges or success premiums after the fact. You agree to the total cost before we start work.

OUR EXPERTISE

Immigration Advisory Rooted in Thailand's Administrative Reality

Thailand's immigration system rewards those who present well-organised, complete documentation. Missing a single required document — a bank letter that doesn't follow the correct format, a photograph taken on the wrong date, a translation that omits a required seal — can delay an application by weeks or require an entirely fresh submission cycle.

Suvarna Counsel exists to reduce that friction. We know which documents immigration officers look at first, which supporting materials often need revision, and where the administrative conventions differ between individual immigration offices. That knowledge comes from sustained, hands-on work rather than from reading published guidelines alone.

We work with individuals who are typically making significant life decisions — retiring to Thailand, bringing a spouse to live here, or formalising a status that has been informal for longer than intended. These situations call for care, not speed. Our practice is structured accordingly: limited engagements, thorough reviews, and time given to answer questions properly.

If you are considering a long-term move to Thailand, or if you are already here and wish to understand your standing more clearly, we welcome an initial enquiry. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right practice for your situation, and what we would need from you to begin.
